A memorandum on cultural cooperation between Indonesia and Serbia was implemented
Innovative Indonesian jazz group “Lombok ethno fusion” that discreetly combines live cultural tradition of the Indonesian island of Lombok – with improvisational principles of jazz, will perform at the upcoming event Nisville on Saturday, August 16. This performance is the result of a memorandum of understanding signed in November 2023. signed by the director of Nisvile Ivan Blagojević and Agus Setiawan Basumi – director of the Warta jazz agency in the city of Yogyakarta.
Drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of this island located in the West Indian province Nusa Tenggara, and cultural ties to Bali, the group uses traditional instruments such as Rincik, Petuk, Gamelan, and Kendang Sasak, creating a stunning sound that is both exotic and receptive. Their performances are additionally enriched with “tembang”, a traditional singing based on “storytelling” which gives their music an extra dimension, inviting listeners into a deeper cultural experience.
The band leader is guitarist Chandra Irawan, and the band also includes Yadi Masran – bass, Ady Cheer, vocals and percussion, Ferdianto – percussion, Syahrul Barrak – bamboo flute, Agustian Putra – drums and Tannya Efritzka – vocals and keyboards.
