JAIN 2019 – Preparatory meeting

Nisville Foundation, Syri Blu and Jana Project invite young musicians to participate in an international project during 2019.

„Jazz and interculturalism – JAIN“

The goal of the JAIN Project is to facilitate creativity and open artistic exchange by connecting young jazz musicians of different cultural, social, economic and geographical backgrounds, in order to develop different levels of intercultural dialogue, intercultural cooperation and cross-border movement. This project connects Serbia, Albania and Italy in recognizing differences and similarities, in learning and exchanging ideas and communication, understanding and opening through mobility, workshops, residencies, joint performances, meeting new people and discovering “new worlds”.

Nisville Foundation, as the project leader, together with its partners in the project “Jazz and Interculturalism – JAIN” – Syri Blu from Tirana (Albania) and Jana Project from Alghero (Italy) invites young musicians (those who already play jazz and those who intend to active participation in this music genre) from these cities, but also beyond – to apply for participation in this project. This project received the support of Creative Europe.

“Jazz and Interculturalism – JAIN” this summer will bring together 30 young musicians from these three cities (10 from each country). The project includes individual work, rehearsals of bands from all three cities – with the support of local music coordinators, as well as gatherings of all participants from all three cities, who together with music coordinators will practice a music program to be performed in all three cities during important music events. which are the Nisville Jazz Festival, the Tirana Jazz Festival and the Musica sulle Bocche International Jazz Festival.

To participate in the project, instrumentalists and vocal soloists up to the age of 27 can send applications to the following e-mail addresses:

– jain@nisville.com for participants from Nis (and Serbia)

– siriblu2001@iahoo.com for participants from Tirana (and Albania)

– janaproject.2010@gmail.com for participants from Algiers (and Italy)

Application forms (in English, Serbian, Albanian and Italian) can be downloaded from the following websites:

The musicians will rehearse their own jazz program in each of these three cities (or areas of the countries involved in the project) as well as the compositions they need to perform together during the gathering. Also, the idea is to perform one traditional composition from each country in a jazz arrangement as part of a joint joint program, because that is the best way for young people to get to know the tradition of their neighbors through music. The first gathering of all participants is planned during the Nisville Jazz Festival – from August 4 to August 13; the second at the Jazz in Albania Festival – from October 3-12, and the third at the Musica sulle Bocche International Jazz Festival – from August 20 to August 30 in Santa Teresa de Gallura (Sardinia).

The Nisville Foundation, Syri Blu and Jana Project invite certified jazz artists to participate in the artistic and pedagogical residencies of the international project during 2019.
