Nišville presents: The Manhattan Transfer!

The most impactful and the most popular jazz vocal group of all times – The Manhattan Transfer – will make their debut in any of the countries that made up former Yugoslavia on Friday 10 of August, the second day of Nišville 2018. Quartet’s is presently made up of Janis Siegel, Cheryl Bentine, Alan Paul and last but not the least, Trist Curless, who is now a part of the group instead of the founder Tim Hauser, who tragically passed away in 2014. The impressive career of this group, spanning four decades, can be represented most briefly by the following numbers: 29 albums, 10 Grammy awards (20 nominations), the only group which earned 2 Grammy awards in the same year (1981) for best performance in both jazz and pop, and their masterpiece “Vocalese”(1985.) is the second most nominated piece with 19 nominations, after Michael Jacksons’ “Thriller”. In 1998. the group entered “Vocal Group Hall of Fame”, and besides the incredible vocal performance their concerts are always guaranteed to have an amazing show for everyone whether a jazz fan or no. Long time music director of the group is pianist Yaron Gershovsky.

04 Apr Lisa Simone performs on Nišville

Renowned American singer and actress Lisa Simone will perform on the 11th of August of this years Nišville jazz festival. Lisa Simone is the daughter of late and great jazz, soul-rhythm, blues singer and fighter for civil rights, Nina Simone. With this performance, Lisa will commemorate her mothers 85th birthday, as well as her entry to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

An all-star ensembles come to Serbia

Black Art Jazz Collective, an all-star ensemble of young American African musicians celebrating black culture in a positive way through music is going to perform at Nisville 2018 at Sunday, August 12^th. The Collective was co-founded by saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, and drummer Johnathan Blake. All graduating from esteemed music programs in the Northeast at the same time, the three quickly became ingrained in the New York Jazz scene as leaders and invaluable members of ensembles led by legends like Tom Harrell, Bobby Hutcherson, Wayne Shorter and Ron Carter and others.

Omar Hakim & Rachel Z “OZ Experience” at Nišville

The band “OZ Experience” led by legendary drummer Omar Hakim and his wife – pianist Rachel Z is going to perform at Nisville 2018, at Friday, August 10th. Members of the band are also bassist Linley Marthe and guitar player JC Maillard leader of the band “Grand Baton”.

05 Aug Nišvil: Hodočašće ljubitelja umetnosti i brana neukusu

U Beogradskom kulturnom centru u galeriji “Artget” održana je pres konferencija povodom 34. Internacionalnog jazz festivala Nišvil koji se ove godine održava od 10. do 13. avgusta. Na konferenciji se velikom broju novinara obratila Bisera Veletanlić, dobitnica Nagrade za životno delo, Ivan Barčić, muzičar i Ivan Blagojević, direktor festivala.
