LA ORQUESTA DE ANTES AT NIŠVILLE

The Argentine ensemble La Orquesta de Antes will perform on Friday, August 14, in the main program of the Nišville Jazz Festival.

This eleven-member group was founded 15 years ago in the town of San Miguel del Monte. Their repertoire ranges from traditional Argentine songs from different parts of this vast country to Argentine rock over the past 50 years — a genre that has shaped the music scene of this country and of Latin America as a whole. The ensemble approaches these styles through the sound and language of a jazz orchestra, offering the audience an experience that is both familiar and innovative.

They have performed on various stages in Argentina and abroad. They have played at 12 editions of the Festival de Jazz de la Playa and two editions of the Festival de Jazz del Subte, and they also host the Festival Jazz de Monte. On the international scene, the orchestra embarked on an ambitious project in 2017: its first European tour, with performances in Brazil, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France, England, and Wales.

The peak of their career so far was in 2019, when, as part of their second European tour — which also included performances in Austria, Germany, France, and Belgium — they represented San Miguel del Monte and Argentina at the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. This tour confirmed the orchestra’s ability to interpret Argentine popular music in a modern format, acting as a true cultural ambassador of the country.

In 2025, La Orquesta de Antes received recognition from the Chamber of Deputies of the Province of Buenos Aires for its “extensive career and invaluable cultural contribution to the community.”

The lineup is: Alejandro Beelmann – drums, Enzo Villar – bass, Joaquín Díaz – guitar, Melany Fazio – vocals, Ariana Villar, Mariela Velázquez and Santiago Aicardi – alto saxophones, Lautaro Gomez Casale and Leandro Morielli – tenor saxophones, Matías Olivera – trombone, and Gustavo Firmenich – clarinet.

INCOGNITO I VLATKO STEFANOVSKI UMESTO BLUES BROTHERSA

S dugogodišnjim vezama s ključnim ličnostima u glazbenoj industriji poput Gillesa Petersona, Joolsa Hollanda i svirajući s ikonama medju kojima su i Maysa Leak, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, George Benson…

MAIZIE WILLIAMS!

“GRAND PRIX” NIŠVILLE FESTIVALA – „ŠABAN BAJRAMOVIĆ“ ZA BONEY M FT. MAIZIE WILLIAMS!

The legendary disco-funk group BONEY M, led by original singer Maizie Williams, will perform with the band on Friday, August 14th, at the upcoming Nišville Jazz Festival, marking a significant jubilee – 50 years since the release of their first album!

On that occasion, she will be presented with the festival's "Grand Prix" – the "Šaban Bajramović" Award – for the fusion of jazz with disco music. This award serves as a posthumous recognition for the founder of BONEY M, singer and producer Frank Farian.

BONEY M is one of the most popular classic representatives of the glamorous disco-funk scene that emerged in the early 1970s in the USA, experienced a true expansion from 1975 onward, and quickly conquered Europe and the rest of the world.

BONEY M was founded in 1974 in West Germany. They gained enormous popularity during the disco era in the second half of the 1970s. The band was founded by German music producer Frank Farian, who was the group's main songwriter and one of its lead vocalists. Initially based in West Germany, the four original members of the official band lineup were Maizie Williams from Montserrat, Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett from Jamaica, and Bobby Farrell from Aruba. The origins of the original lineup members led to a creative fusion of multicultural artistic expression, so that BONEY M, in their musical style, alongside their prominent disco-funk sound, occasionally used reggae and soul influences in their music.

The band sold over 100 million records during their commercial peak and are known for hits such as "Daddy Cool," "Ma Baker," "Belfast," "Sunny," "Rasputin," "Rivers of Babylon," "Brown Girl in the Ring," "Gotta Go Home," etc. Eight singles reached number one on the charts in their native Germany, and two in the United Kingdom – both among the best-selling hits of all time in that country.

Frank Farian, who posthumously receives the "Grand Prix" award at Nišville, in addition to BONEY M, also founded and produced the famous acts "Milli Vanilli" and "No Mercy."

BONEY M still has millions of views on their YouTube channel, and their performances represent not only a nostalgic musical time machine but also a top-tier live experience for multiple generations.
