Georgie FameMr „Yeh Yeh“ at Nisville
Famous British R&B and jazz singer and keyboard player Georgie Fame is going to perform at XXVII Nisville Jazz Festival.
Fame began playing piano at a young age, and performed with several groups around Manchester as a teenager, when he was particularly fond of Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis. In 1959, his family moved to London, where the 16 year old was discovered by songwriter Lionel Bart (best known for the musical Oliver). He renamed his real name (Clive Powell) to Georgie Fame and in the summer of 1961 joined the Blue Flames. Soon he became their lead singer. They played specific combinatiom of rock, pop, R&B, jazz, and ska. Later he discovered the Hammond B-3 organ, becoming one of the very few British musicians to adopt the instrument in late 1962. From there, the Blue Flames became one of the most popular live bands in London. Nis).
Mirko ŠoucAward to the great accordion player
Composer, arranger, pianist, conductor and one of the best European jazz accordionists Mirko Šouc is the winner of this year's Nisville jazz festival award for lifetime achievement. This award will be given to Šouc at the opening evening of the XXVII Nisville jazz festival (August 12 2010 in the Fortress of Nis)
During the 60’s, Mirko Šouc was marked as the best European jazz accordionist on a competition of radio orchestra soloists in Munich– in the time when Art Van Damme was very popular. As Šouc sais, he was never influenced by other accordionist – he was always into jazz pianists like Oscar Peterson and brass players – that’s the secret of his originality.
NISVILLE JAZZ WORKSHOP 2010
This year, Nisville Jazz Workshop will be held from 12 until 15 August at several places in the city of Nis. Festival director Ivan Blagojevic said that this is an important step in establishing Jazz academy of Nis in the future: “Our intention is to organize free jazz workshop 2010, just like a year before. We have already signed several agreements and confirmed that this year’s teachers will be headliners of the festival.“
We invite all interested music academy students and self-taught musicians to register for Nisville Workshop 2010. Each member of Nisville workshop 2010 will receive free pass for every festival evening.

Manu Dibango
Soul Makossa at Nišville
Legendary saxophone player Manu Dibango is going to perform at Nišville jazz festival with his band Soul Makossa Gang with support from French cultural centre and Embassy of France in Belgrade.
Dibango (1933) is Cameroon's, and perhaps Africa's, best-known jazz saxophonist. Starting in the 1950s, he became a globe-trotting musician, living and performing in France, Belgium, Jamaica, Zaire, and Cote d'Ivoire, as well as in Cameroon

This year, Nisville Jazz Festival will also give an opportunity to people from other countries and cities to come to the festival and spend four days and four festival evenings for 100 €. The price includes accommodation in Student’s hostel with full board and twin rooms. Student’s hostel is just near the Fortress of Nis. The price also includes four-day ticket.

De Phazz, the famous lounge-oriented band from Germany, confirmed their performance at XXVII Nisville Jazz Festival.De Phazz is a downtempo jazz ensemble integrating modern turntablism and elements of soul, Latin, trip hop and drum and bass into a lounge music sound. De Phazz is led by German-Austrian producer Peter "Pit" Baumgartner, who surrounded himself with a shifting cast of collaborators that featured vocalists Barbara Lahr, Karl Frierson, and Pat Appleton, as well as drummer Oli Rubow. Albums like Detunized Gravity (1997), Godsdog (1999), Death by Chocolate (2001), Daily Lama (2002), Days of Twang (2007), and Big (2009) explored various terrains of 21st century lounge music, much of it balancing samples with live instrumentation, with innumerable cross-sections of jazz, soul, easy listening, and Latin music.

The legendary tenor saxophone player, composer and arranger Benny Golson is going to perform at the third evening of the year’s festival. 82-year-old Golson, who is still in a great condition (his last year’s album “New Time, New 'Tet “ is in Billboard’s Top 10 Jazz Albums list), is the only active musician of his generation. He is going to perform at Nisville 2010 along with Kelag Big Band from Austria.
